Bowling Ball Cleaner and Towel Maintenance Guide
Cleaner and towels do not replace skill or surface work, but they keep lane oil from hiding what the ball is actually doing.
Wipe during play: Use a microfiber towel before each shot to remove visible oil and moisture. This keeps early-game and late-game reaction closer together.
Clean after the set: Approved cleaner works best when oil has not had time to sit. Follow product directions, check league legality, and avoid household chemicals that can damage coverstock.
Separate towels by job: Use one towel for the ball and another for hands or shoes. Mixing oil, skin products, and approach dust can make every surface less predictable.
Know when to resurface: If a reactive ball stops reading the lane after many games, cleaner may not be enough. Ask a pro shop about oil extraction, surface adjustment, or resurfacing.
